Five-Minute Friday: Give

Updated: Jul 25

A few months ago, I gave something to someone v.e.r.y. dear to my heart. I have to be honest, sweet friends, and tell you that there were some tears involved. What I gave to this person had sentimental value to me. But I did not tell her that. Not one bit. Even though it was very hard for me to give away, I knew it was the right thing to do. It was a “needed” gift on both of our parts. For me to pass along. And for her to receive.

Giving is something that comes very easily to me. I would go as far as to say it is a passion of mine. To look at another and find something special to help sprinkle a little extra light into her life. It’s one of my favorite things that God has granted as an act of love between His children. And when we do give, it doesn’t have to be a big production. No need for an announcement. Or a grand décor. Just a simple hand-off from one to the other….

When giving of yourself…through your time, talents or treasurebecomes daily practice, it isn’t something you have to take the time to really think about. Or pencil in. It is an act of genuine kindness toward another, without anything asked in return.

“Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” (Luke 6:38)
